Skin cancers are the most common skin cancer in Ireland.
People with fair skin, who burn easily are particularly prone to sun damage and skin cancer.
Early detection and treatment can significantly improve outcomes.
Dr Higgins provides the following services:
• Sun damage assessment and treatment.
• Mole checks / screening.
• Skin cancer diagnosis and treatment.
SKIN SCREENING / MOLE CHECK APPOINTMENT
WHAT TO EXPECT
• Dr Higgins will ask about your skin lesions and also your risk factors such as your skin type, prior sun exposure, family history.
• A full skin examination service is offered (unless you prefer not).
• Skin lesions/moles are examined with a dermatoscope and photographed if necessary.
• Treatment or surgery may be performed on the day or at a later date
Treatments
Dr Higgins will advise on what treatments or surveillance are required.
Certain treatments can be performed on the day of your appointment (such as cryotherapy).
Any biopsy or removal of skin lesions will be arranged, following your initial appointment, for Dr Higgins' surgical list in the Blackrock Clinic.
Dr Higgins will also advise on self surveillance of your skin and prevention of sun damage.
